I had been worried Kep Crab Market would be incredibly touristy. But I was delightfully proven incorrect. I arrived quite late in the afternoon, famished from the day’s adventures exploring fishing villages, farmland and lakes along the bumpy red dirt roads of Kampot province, Kampuchea. The market resides predominantly underneath a patchwork of heavy cloth, metal and timber, creating a dark place to sit and devour squid and crab while hidden from the harsh sunshine. But between this shade and the seaside is a flurry of colour and activity. Female fishers take turns to wade out to their crab traps, dragging them in and depositing them on the market edge, where eager customers swarm the still snapping crustaceans. Within moments, they’re sold out and the next fisher goes to check their trap.

These fine art prints are printed on 100% cotton rag and framed in sustainably sourced Victorian Ash hardwood. Frames are made and assembled by hand in Melbourne by the team at Format Framing.
