Front Yard, Sérignac-sur-Garonne

Limited Edition
Edition of 20

20 x 30 cm

A ‘front yard’ in Sérignac-sur-Garonne in the south-west of France. I spent a month living a short promenade along the canal from this petite commune. On a day that moseyed from threatening clouds to brilliant sunshine and back again, I took a stroll through this bastide (walled town) to admire its 13th-century wood and mud-brick houses, arched passages (archetypal of Gascogne), and the unusual helical bell tower. Gardens were of a potted nature and many front ‘porches’ sported curiously tiled floors. I made this photograph just as the wind picked up and fat droplets began to fall.
